Nokia N92 Review

Nokia N92 ReviewNokia N92 Review - The Nokia N92 is a wonderfully versatile 3G mobile phone with TV compatible features. There's support for DVB-H for mobile TV and it's very clear from the beginning that the entire set-up of the Nokia N92 is centered around making it as simple and easy as possible to watch TV on your mobile phone. That Nokia N92 is a tad on the heavy side, however, at 191 grams total.

The Nokia N92 isn't just for watching TV - it of course includes a wide assortment of other valuable features. The 2 megapixel camera is a notable inclusion, but unfortunately some users complain about the lack of Carl Zeiss optics (found on the Nokia N90 instead). The Nokia N92 also boasts 2 high quality displays which are a charm to have.

Nokia N92 ReviewNokia N92 Connectivity

The Nokia N92 has a wide range of connectivity options to choose from: Wi-Fi (802.11b/g) for fast internet data transfer, infrared, Bluetooth wireless, as well as USB 2.0, which will let you connect your Nokia N92 right to your PC for fast and easy file transfers.

There's also an integrated FM radio + music player that supports Mp3 and AAC file formats. It also has XpressMusic and Visual radio support.
Nokia N92 Display Specs

Nokia N92 ReviewThe internal display for the Nokia N92 will see plenty of use, so it's has to be good. You'll have no problem with the big 2.8" anti glare QVGA screen (320 x 240 pixels) that shows a rich 16 million colors. The external display is 128 x 36 pixels and displays 65k colors.

There's 90 MB of internal memory built into the N92 - more than enough for hours of video. If this still isn't enough memory, upgrade up to 2 GB with a miniSD card.

Watching TV on the N92

I like the Nokia N92 because it lets you watch TV without having to be in front of a traditional TV set. There's also a few features included that add to the TV watching experience, like being able to set channel reminders, the ability to craft your own personal channel playlist, as well as being able to subscribe to different TV channel programs.

Nokia N90 Review

January 17, 2007 on 2:45 pm | In Nokia N series Phone Reviews | 1 Comment

Nokia N90 ReviewNokia N90 Review - The Nokia N90 3G smartphone features double displays along with a 2 MP camera backed by Carl Zeiss optics. The high quality of the N90 comes at a price, however. The Nokia N90 is the largest in the N series line so far - total weight of the N90 is a whopping 173 grams.

The N90 is a 3G triband phone (GSM 900/1800/1900 MHz) with EDGE, GPRS, as well as Bluetooth 1.2 and USB connectivity. There's even HSCSD, CSD, as well as Fax support.

There's only 31 MB of internal memory, but the designers include a 64 MB reduced-size (RS) MMC card with the purchase to compensate for this. This should be more than enough to store 800+ minutes of video, as well as thousands of pictures or music files.

Nokia N90 Dual Displays

The external display has a 128x128 pixel size and shows 65k colors. The external display will give you your signal strength, battery life, the current time, caller ID, and will even let you view incoming SMS messages on the fly.

The internal display is a generous 352x416 pixels with 262k colors. You can also adjust the brightness level of the internal display, giving it a different look.

Nokia N90 ReviewNokia N90 2MP Camera

The Nokia N90 boasts a great camera with Carl Zeiss optics. The cam takes wonderful quality pictures up to 1600x1200 pixels. The N90 also boasts an abunance of extra camera features. There's adjustable exposure, nice auto white balance as well as auto focus. You'll also find a good amount of image management applications preinstalled on the N90 - it's also PictBridge compatible. The only thing lacking is the flash, limited at 1.5 m.

Nokia N90 Operating System and Applications

The N90 is backed by the Series 60 OS. You'll find Quickpoint, Quicksheet, as well as Quickword - all compatible with MS Office. There's also a great Opera browser I'm very fond of using, as well as Adobe Acrobat reader for .Pdfs.
Nokia N90 Review
The music player on the N90 supports AAC and MP3 files - not many formats support but .Mp3 is enough for me usually. I was suprised that the N90 didn't include stereo speakers, however the mono speaker did the job well.

The battery life on the Nokia N90 is somewhat short, but not terrible by any means. Talk time is 4 and a half hours, while standby is around 10 days.

Nokia N90 Review - Conclusion

Overall, the Nokia N90 couples excellent camera and video capturing capabilities with pretty much all the features that anyone could want - but in a bulky, slightly heavier package (173 grams total). Keeping features in mind, the N90 boasts a great camera with high quality image and video capture abilities, decent music capabilities, as well as connectivity support for everything under the sun.
