Nokia 5300 ReviewNokia 5300 Review - Nokia 5300 is one of those Nokia products having dedicated music-optimized mobile devices. It belongs to Nokia's XpressMusic series of mobile phones. It is a tri-band phone supporting GSM 900, 1800, and 1900MHz frequency bands. The notable feature in the phone is the 2.5 mm earphone jack and the dedicated music keys. At the first look, from the colour and the material used, the impression one gets is that Nokia 5300 has been designed for the youth market.

The phone measures 92.4mm x 48.2mm x 21m and weighs 107g and by that, the phone is not particularly a small device. It is a slider phone, but the slider seems to be not so sturdy and does wiggle around when you try to slide it up.

The 2.5mm headset jack is found on the left side of the phone, along with three dedicated music keys. The music keys slightly protrude, making them easy to press while the phone is in your pocket. On the right of the phone, you have the Infrared port, camera, and volume buttons. The camera of the phone and the speaker grille could be found at the back of Nokia 5300, while the power button, power jack, and USB port are all found at the top. Unfortunately you will find no protection to cover up the USB and power ports.

The camera is a 1.3 mega-pixel CMOS unit, having 1024x768 pixels resolution for photos and 176x144 pixels for videos. It also features a phone book amongst other basic features and supports GPRS for high speed data Trans-receive. The keypad of Nokia 5300 is one of the best designs available. The keys are large and do produce a tactile feedback when pressed. The slot for the microSD is not visible from the top and can be found below the battery cover. It is a hassle.

Nokia 5300 has a music player which can be played in the background and has a decent sound quality. The phone features five equaliser presets for you to choose from. Remaining on the music front, the phone has a bundled 3.5mm adaptor, which allows you to use any of your usual headphones. The phone's music player interface is an improved design and has the native support of A2DP, OMA DRM2, and Flash Lite 2. It has 64 polyphonic ring-tones and the reception is louder than the 5500. The sound does not lose out its quality at the maximum volume. The QVGA display screen of Nokia 5300 is outstandingly good. Measuring 2 inches diagonally, it has 320 x 240 pixels resolution with 262k colours. Nokia 5300 has a BL-5B 760mAh battery, with a talk time of up to 3 hours, and standby time can be up to 223 hours.

In summing up, the performance of Nokia 5300 is good. The phone offers rare functional features, like, timed profiles and voice commands. The phone book and profile management are quite intuitive. It has a music system with controls which makes Nokia 5300 a very demanding phone.
