For years now the name Nokia has been synonymous with state of the art cellular telephones and handsets and as they have introduced each new model over the years it seems that Nokia has also simultaneously raised the bar for their competitors to look up to. So, now it seems that with the release of the Nokia 8600 Luna nothing has changed in that respect.
This phone is definitely not for everyone, because for one thing it is not one of Nokia budget models. For the phone user who is looking for a cell phone that is fully loaded and lacks for nothing while at the same time is the epitomy of cell phone design style it is definitely well worth taking a good look at. At first glance it is obvious that the Nokia 8600 Luna is no ordinary cell phone with its uniquely designed glass cover under which is located its softly glowing camera and keypad.

While some of Nokia's cell phones and handsets can seem somewhat bulky and heavy the 8600 Luna is in fact quite compact with 107x45x15.9 dimensions. When fully charged the battery will hold 3.7 hours of talk time and 10 days of standby time. This one of one of a kind cell phone is equipped with a state of the art high resolution display that is supported by up to 16 million total available colors.
Its 2 mega pixel camera mechanism is top of the line and features Zeiss optics just like all of the other cell phones that Nokia carries. It features 4x digital zoom and has both video as well as still shot capabilities. For music lovers who require more than what most other cell phones with music features offer the Nokia 8600 Luna comes completely loaded with user friendly functions.
Music and videos are easily available with video playback and streaming as well as the music player or built in FM radio. The system in the 8600 Luna supports PNG, BMP, GIF and JPEG image formats and it also includes a picture and video editing function as well. Also integrated into the 8600 Luna is video recording and playback capabilities in QCIF format with sound as well as 3GPP streaming function.
The call management features built into the 8600 Luna include automatic redial, speed dialing as well as any key answering. Some of the other call management features in the unit include call hold, call waiting, call timer and call divert. Of course the cell phone also has a log that automatically lists dialed, received and missed calls as well.
Text messaging supports concatenated SMS, picture messaging and an SMS distribution list. Also the audio messaging function in the 8600 Luna can be used to send recorded voice clip via MMS. Some of the additional features included in this cell phone include advanced speech recognition, personal information management, JAVA applications as well as PIM function. Of course the phone contains many more features then can be listed in this short review but from what there is listed it is obvious that the 8600 Luna from Nokia is not just another cell phone.

On October 17 2007 at the Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco California, Nokia announced the introduction of a new Internet appliance that they have named the N810. This new Internet Tablet from Nokia combines Internet capabilities, recorded music and GPS navigation in a compact large screen unit.
It is small enough to fit in a persons pocket yet comes loaded with a litany of features allowing for full and convenient use. Its 2.83 inches in height, .55 inches thick and 5.04 wide and weighs in at 7.97 ounces. With the Nokia810 a user can easily brows or communicate on the Internet using wi-fi networks or a Bluetooth cell phone if they wish.

What the Nokia N810 actually seems to be is, is an advanced version of the Nokia N800 with some new features added and a few unpopular features that were on the Nokia N800 removed. For instance, one of the new features that you will find in the Nokia N810 is new and more advanced Internet Tablet OS 2008 Linux distribution, 1 which is also based on Maemo, 4.0 and it also has a newer Mozilla Gecko based browser, a new media player, a mapping application and also a refreshed interface.
However; some who have tried the new Nokia N810 have registered a few complaints that are mostly centered around the keyboard function. While the keys are backbit, large and respectably more tactile to the touch then the keys on the Nokia 800, many complain that the top row of keys is positioned right up against the bottom of the screen which many have claimed can render typing rather difficult.
Aside from that one small area of complaint though the rest of this new N series tablet receives rave reviews. The N810 features a 2.47 inch by 4.13 inch 800 by 480 pixel, 65000 color touch screen. The screen is also translusive with a sensitive ambient light sensor, so it always provides clear and concise images in both bright sunlight and dim light conditions.
Other convenient features include a hardware key for quick locking of of the keys and touch screen. It comes off the shelf with a 2 gigabyte memory but can be augmented up to 8 gigabytes with either a microSD or a miniSD card. Its powered by a Texas Instruments OMAP 2420, 400MHz processor and Maemo, Linux based, 0S2008 operating system, so the N810 has plenty of power for all of its functions and applications and that includes the optional computer applications which can be added.
The N810 comes standard with a complete function WEB 2.0 Mozilla based browser which also includes AJAX function ability as support for any interactive web applications. Voice guided navigation is optional in the N810 but GPS navigation comes standard.
Also, it comes preloaded with maps that cover the area where the unit is purchased. It has a large capacity for storing songs and with the optional 10 gigabyte storage card it will hold up to a total of 7000 songs. So, all in all the Nokia N810 is a great improvement over their other Internet tablets that they have offered in the past.
