Nokia 8600 Luna Review
For years now the name Nokia has been synonymous with state of the art cellular telephones and handsets and as they have introduced each new model over the years it seems that Nokia has also simultaneously raised the bar for their competitors to look up to. So, now it seems that with the release of the Nokia 8600 Luna nothing has changed in that respect.
This phone is definitely not for everyone, because for one thing it is not one of Nokia budget models. For the phone user who is looking for a cell phone that is fully loaded and lacks for nothing while at the same time is the epitomy of cell phone design style it is definitely well worth taking a good look at. At first glance it is obvious that the Nokia 8600 Luna is no ordinary cell phone with its uniquely designed glass cover under which is located its softly glowing camera and keypad.

While some of Nokia’s cell phones and handsets can seem somewhat bulky and heavy the 8600 Luna is in fact quite compact with 107×45x15.9 dimensions. When fully charged the battery will hold 3.7 hours of talk time and 10 days of standby time. This one of one of a kind cell phone is equipped with a state of the art high resolution display that is supported by up to 16 million total available colors.
Its 2 mega pixel camera mechanism is top of the line and features Zeiss optics just like all of the other cell phones that Nokia carries. It features 4x digital zoom and has both video as well as still shot capabilities. For music lovers who require more than what most other cell phones with music features offer the Nokia 8600 Luna comes completely loaded with user friendly functions.
Music and videos are easily available with video playback and streaming as well as the music player or built in FM radio. The system in the 8600 Luna supports PNG, BMP, GIF and JPEG image formats and it also includes a picture and video editing function as well. Also integrated into the 8600 Luna is video recording and playback capabilities in QCIF format with sound as well as 3GPP streaming function.
The call management features built into the 8600 Luna include automatic redial, speed dialing as well as any key answering. Some of the other call management features in the unit include call hold, call waiting, call timer and call divert. Of course the cell phone also has a log that automatically lists dialed, received and missed calls as well.
Text messaging supports concatenated SMS, picture messaging and an SMS distribution list. Also the audio messaging function in the 8600 Luna can be used to send recorded voice clip via MMS. Some of the additional features included in this cell phone include advanced speech recognition, personal information management, JAVA applications as well as PIM function. Of course the phone contains many more features then can be listed in this short review but from what there is listed it is obvious that the 8600 Luna from Nokia is not just another cell phone.

A little about my luna: bought this phone over a year ago. I’m using a blackberry right now for practical purposes because lets get real, the nokia 8600 is like that nice watch you dont wear every day, every fashion conscious guy needs a phone like this one though (goes well with a nice pair of black silver cufflinks). The themes are great and free if you have 15 minutes and can tie your own shoelaces. chicks will tell you they dig your nokia phone as long as you dont answer it like a douche. ( “Talk to me.”) Not sure if you want to buy this?– give it a shot, you wont find lots of people that own it and I can promise you will make those phone company kiosk guys at the mall look stupid when they offer a free upgrade to your phone when you sign up for a new contract.
